We try hard to get what we say we want then somehow failure happens time and time again, now don’t get me wrong, there will always be someone who performs outside of what I am going to discuss but there is a way to get 95% better results which a lot of people don’t even think of.

Good intentions happen, you set out to go to the gym 5 days a week, eat a healthy salad and juice some fruit to get those healthy nutrients into your body but after a couple of weeks you’re bored and not wanting to continue, no reason, no one is holding you accountable for this and you’ve not got any investment in the results therefore you stop.

This is where the power of having a coach comes in, not only is that person there to share your results with but they are also there in order to make sure when things do slow down you have the motivation to continue, they say the right words when they are needed and also give you that kick up the butt when you’re falling a tiny bit behind.

But let’s look a little deeper because honestly I would hate for anyone to think of me as a strict military mind who is only there to crack the whip without any mindfulness over you actually having fun and living a life when you want to lose weight.

The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) actually completed a study to show what certain things have on the impact of getting a results, actually completing the goal you set your mind to and the results were an interesting find. The probability changed depending on the method as follows:

Your probability of completing a goal increased by:

  • Hearing an idea 10%
  • Consciously deciding to adopt it 25%
  • Deciding when you will do it 40%
  • Planning how to do it 50%
  • Commit to someone else what you are going to do it 65%

But here is the big one that came out of the study where investing in a coach who is an expert not just of the physical implications of health and nutrition but is an expert at accountability to (cough, cough).

The ASTD found that when you actually have this specific accountability appointment with the person your probability of completing that goal went up 95%, that’s pretty much guaranteed to complete the task when you invest in it.

That right there to me shows that if I ever want to achieve something I have to find a way of getting accountable and whenever a client has invested in their health by hiring myself, provided it wasn’t free they have got the results purely because their probability of completing it went up 95%.

This goes to show the results speak for themselves, now there will be other ways of getting accountability no just by hiring a coach but this will be one of the ways to almost guarantee you hit the goals you are setting yourself.
