Mindset

Making a transformation is almost all mindset. You need to decide you want to stop existing and start living! With that said, we often want to change so bad we try everything at once, overloading ourselves and ending up giving up because we’ve made the path to success such a difficult one.

I want to share with you the mindset tips and tricks that are the easiest to apply, but give the best results. When it comes to sustainability, you want the most bang for your buck!

You need to find a strategy that is sustainable long term, this is a lifestyle change. If you want to lose weight, you’ll need to stick to losing 1 – 2 pounds a week at most. For some, this means a transformation could take a year or two, so you need to change your lifestyle to achieve this. If you try to lose weight any faster than this you could really damage your health, and also run the risk of ending up with lots of excess skin! This would then become your new focus to be self-conscious about.

First Mindset Secret

The first mindset secret is to take it slow. I know you want a change right now, but the only way you will be able to make the change you desire is with slow, sustainable progress over a longer period of time. Don’t worry that you want results right now, it’s human nature (and that’s why a whole industry of ineffective, miracle weight loss supplements exists!)

Second Mindset Secret

The second secret follows on from this – don’t try to lose weight or look a certain way for an unreasonable date. If you have a dress to fit into in a couple of months, understand you’re not going to be able to sustainably drop more than about 4 pounds a month.

Whilst there are ways to lose weight short term; cutting out carbs for 2 weeks prior to the date, drinking lots of water for two weeks and then no water for the day before the date, sitting in a sauna for hours. These strategies can allow you to drop 5-15 pounds in a few weeks (something that fighters do to make a fight weight, or bodybuilders do to look more lean on a competition day), this will all be water weight that you’ll put back on within a day or two of finishing. Besides that, it can be very damaging to your health to dehydrate yourself so severely.

In short, trying to drop weight on such short time frames is detrimental to your health and just cheating yourself as it’s not real. You should aim to drop 2 pounds a month for the first few months and then 4 pounds a month once you’re in the swing of things. Setting real goals that you know you’re likely to achieve will boost your confidence, making you more likely to continue with your weight loss program.

Lots of Small Changes Make a Big Difference

As I mentioned in the mindset section, you’ll want to try and find simple changes that are easily sustainable to make the biggest difference. Here are some small changes you can make regarding your food to really help you transform.

First Small Change Secret

The first small change secret is to change up what you drink. Tea and coffee have essentially zero calories. Adding milk and a teaspoon of sugar add 30 calories each to the drink. So if you drink a cup of tea twice a day with milk and two sugars, you’re getting an extra 150-200 calories a day that you could easily cut out. At most your diet should reduce your calories intake by about 500 calories a day to be sustainable, so by dropping the extras in your tea of coffee you’re about a third of the way there already! One of the first big changes I made to my diet way drinking black coffee. It will likely taste disgusting at first but within a week or two, I guarantee you’ll get use to it. A bonus here is you can now enjoy espresso, opening up a whole world of coffee.
